cable internet vs fios
Fios Vs. Cable? Which is a better internet service?
Ok so right now all my road has to offer is dial up. There is a good chance we were going to get cable but after a meeting it has been decided that fios, or fiber optics, would be better since it is only 50 cents per foot. My question first is that which is overall better, Fios or cable? Also, it will have a 7mbps download speed, and a 768 kbps upload speed, is this fast and good enough for online gaming such as halo 3 and COD 4? And lastly, how are the Fios cables so cheap compared to the cable ones if they are almost or even on the same level of speed? Any insight is appreciated. Oh yea and 7mbps is good for downloading songs and stuff right? By the way the cable and Fios are both provided by metrocast.
I say go w/ FIOS not just because I install it but because you will NOT share your signal with anybody. You will have your own fiber drop from your home back to the central office. Going with cable you will be getting a copper drop from your home to a junction box where everybody in your neighborhood goes, from there it goes into another bigger box that multiple neighborhoods feed into before going back to their office.
