What are the legalities of making direct references to life celebrities and TV programs in creative writing?
I am a writer first time and I wonder if I can use names of famous people (who are alive and well) and currently transmits television programs in my work without to worry about a lawsuit. Thank you.
It depends on how they are used. Can you refer in your book on Barack Obama to be the President of the USA? Sure you can. Even you can have your characters to support or not support it. Can you write a story about Barack Obama's wild adventure with your mother, or a parcel on which destroys the planet? No.
