direct tv number of channels
Direct tv hd20 dvr Delay?
why the hell does it take my new direct tv hd20 dvr reciever over five seconds to log onto each channel. and there is also a delay on the titles and even when i press the channel number.
my signals are over 98 for each sat. But i am only picking up 4 of 5. dtv said the 119 is just a local sat? My wife want to kill me for upgrading from the older system. Help

It’s probably not the dish, nor the alignment.
In most cases, it is the hardware, and Directv’s own encoding and conversion of signals. In other words, out of your control — a known, very irritating phenomenon.
The early production models of this box are a train wreck. I have a later box, and it suffers mostly brief audio cutouts and pixelated picture problems. The menu problems aren’t there.
The problems with this box are well documented, even on Directv’s own customer service forums on their website. AVS Forum on the web has a ton of information.
I called Directv to cancel. The guys first question will be “why are you leaving us.” Tell him that you paid $200 for a pile of junk, and a monthy fee for service that they know is having major problems. In a flash you will have a tech out for free, no fees for HDTV for at least six months, and often a free premium channel package to keep you around.
There are software updates that will help, and it is getting marginally better. It’s your call on whether to stick around until they get it figured out.
I’m sticking around for a while, but in part because neither cable nor Dish have cleared up their issues either.
