dish dvr hard drive upgrade
how are dish network dvr hard drives formatted?
I have a dish network 721 DVR that is being upgraded free to a 525. SInce I own it I do not have to return it and I thought about opening it up to see what makes it tick.
If I mount this drive in a normal PC will I be able to read it or is it formatted with some strange format?
I am actually hoping to be able watch the movies stored on it.
Dish re-formats NTFS or Fat 32 hard drives into their own proprietary format. Once you have connected a hard drive to the DVR, if re-formats the drive so in order to use the drive on your computer, you first must format the drive, thus loosing all information on the drive.
