dish network tv hookup
Can I hookup a coax cable from my Sat reciever to LCD Monitor? It does not have a Coax input. Only BNC & RCA.?
I am using a dish network DVR (Dual Tuner) and can only run regular coax cable into the room where the LCD monitor is. I tried an adapter that screws onto the coax cable and then plugs into the video (Yellow RCA) input but it didn’t work. If I only had a 60′ long S-Video cable that I could run between rooms, it would be OK but of course, I don’t. I even tried hooking the cable to a Stand alone DVD burner with a built in TV tuner but it didn’t work either.
You cannot convert a co-ax signal to an RCA video signal with a plug adapter since the audio and video signal travelling through the co-ax cable is a modulated RF signal. The RCA video is a single base-band video signal only. You would need an RF de-modulator to convert from the co-ax to RCA. Unfortunately these devices are not as easy to find as RF modulators. Your best bet would probably be to run the co-ax into a VCR, and use the RCA video out on the VCR to run into the video in on the monitor.
