Which is better digital cable or Satelite (you know like dishnet, etc.)?

If you have the the small dish satelite (not talking about the big C-band one) does it get messed up often with the wind, snow, rain, etc. I have digital cable and I’m thinking of switching to satelite because there are more HD channels on dish but I wonder if it will be a bigger pain in the Ass than I have now.

I had Dish for about 10 years, and recently switched to Verizon FiOS.

Dish would lose signal in heavy rain/snow, but only for maybe 10-30 minutes. When I had cable before Dish, we lost signal maybe a couple of times per summer (storm related), but then it would go out for hours and hours.

FiOS hasn’t gone out yet, and I don’t plan to switch.

Dish does have lots of HD channels, but the quality of them is inferior to OTA, FiOS, and many digital cable services.

ALL of DirectTVs HD stations are down-rezzed. They are technically 1080i, but they are not the actual broadcast 1920×1080. DirectTV reduces the resolution to conserve bandwidth. Most of their HD channels are down-rezzed to 1440 or 1280×1080. When you see it next to full resolution HD, the difference is BLATANT.
