Why cable internet service slow in the cold?

I have FiOS and I Border Comcast. I noticed this with both services and I was wondering if anyone could tell me why. When it gets very cold and snow and storms, my Internet connection always seems to be slower. I can play my xbox and constantly have a bar of red or yellow 2. On an average day, however, is fine. What causes this? Is it coincidence? Nothing is wireless.

Often when an area is equipped with optical fiber to accommodate as FiOS services, construction of existing facilities are not updated as well. You may have the old cabling in your home or apartment building to the box that converts the signal from FiOS. Trying to pump more data rates through the equipment can cause major problems like what you are experiencing, especially in weather conditions like snow and ice that the tension of the cables of age or introduces the signal beam interference. In addition, many broadband links are shared and its speed depends a bit on the use of each one in your area related to same service. It is possible that more of your neighbors are indoor games, surf the web, watch Netflix on demand, etc, when the weather is bad.
