satellite tv channels in australia
This is a question about Satellite tv and how it works, please help?

I’ve been trying to find an answer on the web, and have researched and found nothing much, here was my original question:
Why can’t I get satellite feed from Europe on my Directv?
I think maybe it’s political, but you can order from all over the world, but countries like australia, UK, France, you can’t order it. Does anyone know why?
I’m in Michigan, USA
I found this answer, and it’s the closest thing to what I really want to ask:
No, you cannot watch US satellite channels when you are in Europe. Nor can you watch European satellites in the US. Your antenna (the satellite dish) cannot receive signals from satellites under the horizon, and since the earth is round, US satellites are under Europe’s horizon. Europe and the Middle East, however, is basically one area, and a dish in Sweden can pick up the same signals as those in Tunisia, and vice versa.
Well, I know CNN gets live tv when they interview someone from their newsroom in London and they use satellite, so why can’t I?

These answers are not correct , nothing to do with bandwidth or subscriptions to Dish or Direct TV.

” I know CNN gets live tv when they interview someone from their newsroom in London and they use satellite, so why can’t I? ”

Well you can , kind of sort of but realize that CNN is sending a signal from London to lets say New York , and yes this is possible , just like passing a Football to your neighbor next door over a tall fence.

Here’s the dillemma , think of a Satellite as if it was a spotlight aimed at the U.S. , the light would shine very bright at the center and get dimmer as it reached the edges , thats why a larger dish is needed at the edges of a satellite footprint , because the signal is weaker and you need a larger dish to compensate for the signal loss.

If that signal is beamed at the U.S. , then it would be impossible for someone in Australia to receive it , if you are not the intended audience why would a National network like BBC spend the money to send a signal to China , and they would have to uplink to a Satellite visible in both the U.K. and China or relay the signal through another Satellite.

So SKY Mexico can technically be watched in Mexico and some parts of Texas , Arizona , and California , eventhough it’s a Pay satellite service only for Mexico.

Hispasat CD is a Satellite from Spain located in Space on the Clarke Belt at 30.0 west that has a beam aimed at North America that can be received from around the Missisippi River all the way to the East coast , Hispasat CD also has a beamed aimed at Spain and parts of Europe that are nearby.

Eventhough I can receive Hispasat , I can only receive programming to the U.S. and not the programming aimed at Europe.
